Storage Association. It's easy to see how much money can be saved
by doing some of the packing yourself.
Here's what we're assuming in this fictitious move
from Los Angeles to New York City.
- 2 bedroom home (1,000 to 1,200 pounds per room,
no extraordinary items, no crating antiques, etc.) 6,000 pounds
total moving.
- 2,796 miles (Rand McNally mileage guide)
- 4 appliances -- washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer.
Only the washer will need servicing.
- 1 stair carry in NYC
- No additional valuation coverage
- No unusual services -- crating, hoisting, overtime
loading or unloading.
- Average applied discount (56 percent.) This will
vary based on time of year, carrier and business line preferences.
